To fully ensure the high-quality teaching of the Medical History Taking course for international MBBS students in the 2025 autumn semester and further strengthen the teaching collaboration among inter-hospital teachers, the Medical History Taking Teaching and Research Section of the Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University held a collective lesson preparation meeting and new teacher trial teaching session via Tencent Meeting on August 29. The meeting specially invited Director Cai Hanqing from the Endocrinology Department of Ziqiang hospital district and Director Fan Jia from the Neurology Department as review experts. More than 10 core teachers from the Medical History Taking Teaching and Research Sections of the Second, First, and Third Norman Bethune Hospitals of Jilin University attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Chen Peng, Director of the Clinical Professional Foreign Language Teaching and Research Section and Chief Person in Charge of the Medical History Taking course of the Medical Department.

As a fundamental skill in medical practice, Medical history taking is of great significance for cultivating medical talents with an international perspective. Chen Peng, the chief person in charge of the course, systematically arranged the teaching tasks for the autumn semester based on the core requirements of the Medical History Taking Syllabus (2024 Edition).

Teacher Shi Xiaohua from the Third Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University, Teachers Yin Fei and Xu Tingting from the Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University, and Teacher Teng Siying from the Ophthalmology Department of the First Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University conducted trial teaching in turn. All four teachers demonstrated solid professional English proficiency and teaching capabilities, and applied a variety of teaching methods. The experts fully affirmed the teachers’ trial teaching and provided one-on-one guidance to each teacher focusing on aspects such as “teaching logic, interactive design, and standardization of teaching plans”.

Teacher Li Yangxue, the teaching secretary, arranged the teaching work and gave a detailed explanation on the teaching tasks, course schedule, assessment methods, and preparation of teaching materials for this semester. The participating teachers had a lively discussion on teaching skills and coping with cultural differences, shared teaching experiences, and all expressed that they had benefited a lot.
The holding of this teaching meeting has further clarified the teaching direction of the Medical History Taking course for the autumn semester, built an efficient communication platform for inter-hospital teachers, and provided strong support for the high-quality development of MBBS teaching in the new semester.
